Calm yourself with these yoga poses!

Yoga has been in the heart ever since its benefits have come into picture! There is no other stress buster better than yoga!

You can calm yourself down anytime, anywhere!

Being a yoga practitioner, I have always been getting these queries about yoga poses to release anxiety!

This pushed me to write my thoughts!

Here are some poses which can help you deal with your stress ? :-

  • Setu Bandh Asana (Bridge Pose)

  • Lie on the back, bend knees and keep your feet flat on the floor with hips apart and arms along the body with palms facing down.
  • Press feet into the floor.
  • Inhale and lift hips.
  • Hold your breaths for 10 seconds and exhale.

How does it help in calming down?

  • Provides proper back and leg stretch.
  • Reduces anxiety, helps in releasing fatigue, backaches and headaches.
  • Helps in controlling blood pressure as well. 
  • Garudasana (Eagle pose)

                               

  • Stand with arms at sides
  • Bend knees, balance on your right foot and cross the left foot over the right foot.
  • Concentrate your breathing, it will help you in balancing well.
  • Extend arms straight in front of the body.
  • Bend elbows and raise your forearms, pressing palms together.
  • Look at the tips of your thumb.
  • Hold yourself for about a minute and then repeat it again with the other leg. 

How does it help in calming down?

  • It helps in improving focus and balance
  • Releases tension from shoulders, back and legs
  • Balasana (Child Pose)

  • Kneel on yoga mat with legs together.
  • Sit on the back of your heels.
  • Bend forward until your chest rests on thighs.
  • Try to touch your forehead on the floor.
  • Let your hands rest on the floor.

How does it help in calming down?

  • A resting posture that helps in calming the mind and easing stress.
  • It has a huge impact on nervous system and lymphatic system.
  • Marjariasana (Cat pose)

  • Draw the belly to the spine.
  • Round back towards the celling.
  • Release your head towards the floor.
  • Don’t bend your chin to the chest

How does it help in calming down?

  • It helps in soothing and stretching of lower back.
  • It helps in relieving stress and massages the spine.
  • Adho Mukha svanasana (downward dog pose)

  • Starting on all fours, lower forearms to the floor, putting toes inside.
  • Place hands on the ground with fingers spread wide.
  • Press forearms, fingers and palms into the floor.
  • Let the head and neck hang freely.
  • Remain in this pose for 5 breaths and repeat it again

How does it help in calming down?

  • Quiets the mind, reliefs stress and helps in reducing anxiety.
  • It gives a proper stretch to shoulders, neck and spine.
