HEALTH AND RAINY SEASON (MONSOON)
Monsoon, the season comes as a blessing after hot exhausting summer.
The rain, the greenery, yummy onion pakora & a cup of hot tea sure can be a treat at times if health is at its best!
Vaat dosha is aggravated in Rainy season naturally with mild Pitta dosh accumulation. Digestive power is weakest in the season and so is the body immunity. What should be the diet in this season? Let’s have a quick glance
The diet which is light & easy to digest
- Rice, Grains which are older than 1 year
- Ginger, Garlic to strengthen digestive power
- Whole wheat flour, rice flour, barley, jawar flour
- Sweet & slight sour – salty tastes are recommended to subside Vaat
The diet which is heavy & difficult to digest
- Fresh grains
- Milk products – Cheese, Paneer, Mithai
- Spicy oily food, Stale food, Chana flour
- Potato, Brinjal, Sprouts
We can easily keep ourselves fit in the season with proper diet & light exercise. Still one falls ill, can try these simple home remedies
Loss of appetite (Anorexia)
1/4th teaspoon ginger juice + 1/4th teaspoon lemon juice + pinch of salt, before lunch & dinner.This is one of the best appetizers!
Running nose/Allergic rhinitis/Sore throat
Drinking warm water, gargles with turmeric water, taking steam before sleep is extremely helpful. You can have healthy tea for the season by adding lemongrass, ginger, clove, cardamom & basil leaves.
Expectorant cough/Asthma
Udad gram flour (1/2 tsp) + pinch of salt + sesame oil, boil for 2 minutes. Use warm to massage back & chest it helps in reducing congestion.
Stomach ache due to indigestion/Gases
Gentle massage over abdomen with warm sesame oil followed by hot water bag fomentation.
Arthritis
Use warm sesame oil to massage joints. If the swelling is there, applying the paste of garlic powder in warm water is useful.
Diarrhea & vomiting
Prepare lemonade in warm water & have sips with small intervals. Ginger + lemon juice + honey is also helpful.
