The hustle and bustle of the modern-day human have severely affected their health. It is not uncommon for people to compromise their sleep to work, study, or, just enjoy. Sleep is a luxury to some people. Wasting the sleep to function properly. Continuous activity without catching any shut eyes can severely affect the functioning of your body, and make it prone to various diseases. Sleep is the time during which your body repairs the damaged cell or, tissues of your body so that you can wake up all healthy and fit.


1.It makes you prone to obesity. Yes, by lasing your sleep, you are not only losing your resting time but pushing yourself one step toward getting obese. Scientific studies have found that the people, who sleep for less than 6-7 hours daily have lower levels of the hormone called as ’Leptin’. This chemical makes you feel full. So, by losing sleep, you tend to eat more.

2.Your immunity lowers down. The Improper or less sleep you have, the lower your immunity gets. And, this weakening of your immunity makes you vulnerable to the flu and other microbes in the surrounding. The most common sign of lowered immunity you can notice after losing your sleep is ‘cold’.

3.Increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. Improper or less sleep increases the risk of having various cardiovascular diseases, and condition like high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

4.Your cognitive abilities are disabled. The learning and decision-making ability of the person reduce due to the lack of the sleep. It affected the memory retention power, and hence, makes the people forgetful.

5.Lack of sleep and depression go hand in hand. Improper or Less sleep or no sleep leads to a rise in the stress hormone, called as ‘Cortisol’. Depression is a serious medical condition and can lead to multiple diseases, as it lowers the immunity.

6.Improper or less sleep affects the growth of the children and teenagers. Sleep is crucial for the growing children. In the absence of a sound and proper sleep, the human growth hormone (HGH) levels decreases and thereby, negatively impacting the growth.

7.Sleep deprivation can even lead to death. The sleep is a vital part of your daily routine. Your body needs it to keep functioning properly. Studies have found that the people you sleep less than their body require having the risk of dying at their early age.


Every person has different sleep needs, based on their age, work, and health. Children need for at least 10-12 hours, while healthy adult should have a sleep of about 6-8 hours. The sleeping hours may vary from person to person. A person may feel refreshed after 6 hours of sleep, while the other may need an hour of sleep to feel fresh. It is important to find out your sleeping needs to protect your body from the different medical condition.

Sleep is as much important as food, and exercise to keep you healthy and fit. So, never compromise your sleep and give your body the proper rest it deserves.
