Monsoon diseases and their home remedies

With the arrival of the monsoon, the entire earth starts to look green, and everyone eagerly waits to get relief from the heat goes over. On the one hand, the monsoon is promising with the drizzle of rain but on other hands, it also brings diseases too. In the rainy season, the risk of viral diseases such as malaria, dengue, cold-cough, laxatives, vomiting, typhoid, skin diseases and jaundice increases significantly. I) Getting wet due to rain is normal and can’t be avoided every time. In such a situation, do not bear wet clothes for long because of wearing wet clothes is prone to infection.

Ii) If possible after bathing in the rain, take a bath with clean water, otherwise, you should clean the whole body with a dry cloth which prevents diseases such as infection (cold-cough, laxative, vomiting, typhoid, skin disease).

Iii) Do not accumulate rainwater around your home at all, keep a close watch on cleanliness as if there is rainwater filled around your home, it can give birth to harmful germs.

Iv) DO not consume the food items that are available in the market and keep a distance from them. Because there are good chances of harmful germs due to the rainy season

V) Due to the rainy season, the digestive tract slows down, therefore low-fat food should be consumed.

Vi) It increases the number of bacteria in water in the rainy season. So only drink, filtered or boiled water.

Vii) Since the number of mosquitoes increases during the rain, it is very important to take protection against them. Using mosquito netting to avoid mosquitoes are the best option.

Monsoon Diseases, Symptoms and Their Treatment

A) Malaria

Malaria is caused due to female Anopheles mosquito bites.


  • Hurricane Fatigue and Weakness.
  • A headache and pain in muscles.
  • Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness.
  • Leaving one day and coming fever the next day.

Cure and Precautions:

When water is collected, add kerosene or petrol in it. Keep the room cooler and utensils filled with water empty. Keep the house and its surroundings, drains, etc clean. Keep the water bars when the patient has a high fever. Show the doctor immediately when the situation is serious.

B) Chikungunya

This is caused due to the bite of a female “Aedes Azepti” mosquito.


Fever, Pain in the joints, swelling, and swelling. A headache, vomiting, weakness, and tiredness etc.

Cure and Precautions:

Take full care of the cleanliness of the house and its surroundings, keep the water tanks, utensils covered, bedrest, take vitamin D and protein-rich diet.

C) Dengue

Dengue is a viral infection caused by biting of female Aedes Azepti mosquito. Dengue is of 3 types – classical dengue fever, dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) and dengue Shak fever (DSH).


High fever, headache, and nausea. Pain in joints and muscles. Feeling weakness, loss of appetite. Pain in the neck.

Cure and Precautions:

I) Do not take any specific medicine or antibiotics from your side. These may reduce platelets.

Ii) Due to high fever and vomiting, there is a shortage of water in the body, so take plenty of liquid and take complete rest.

D) Cold and Flu

It spreads from one person to another by using sneezing, coughing, shaking hands with the infected person, using towel and handkerchief.


Sneezing, nose bleeding or closing. A sore throat and cough. Headache. Feeling of fever Restlessness, weakness and loss of appetite.

Cure and Precautions:

I) Take anti-viral medicines when it is cold and flu, as per the medical advice. Home remedies like cold & flu, such as steam, gargling, drinking plenty of water, resting etc. also gives relief in the cold.

Ii) Use sanitizer or medicated SOAP to wash hands.

Iii) Eat soup, herbal tea, nutritious diet etc.

E) Diarrhea

Diarrhea is spread by viruses, bacteria, and parasites. Diarrhea is caused due to the consumption of contaminated water and food, after having a special gastric illness (such as colitis) and bacterial or viral infection.


Loose motions, vomiting, and nausea. Fever and cramps in the stomach

Cure and Precautions:

I) Offer ORS or salt-sugar slurry to the patient.

Ii) Give the patient more quantity of liquid (coconut water, lassi, lentil water etc.).

F) Fungal Infection

In the rain, the problem of herpes – itching, boils, and rashes are increased. Moisture and excessive sweating increase the problem of fungal infection.


Spreading from one place to another on the skin. Red skin and itching problem.

Cure and Precautions:

  • Use antibacterial soap when fungal infections occur.
  • Apply anti-fungal cream when fungal infections occur.
  • Apply calamine lotion when you have a rhesus.
  • Take special care of physical hygiene.
  • If the infection is over, show the doctor immediately.
